We believe that in order to advance our mission, we must invest in in leadership development, diversity and inclusion initiatives, training programs, policy research and more to ensure that Boston lawyers have the skills and tools they need to succeed and to make this work possible.
Women’s Leadership & Advancement Forum
The BBA’s Women’s Leadership & Advancement Forum is dedicated to promoting and generating fundamental change across areas of gender inequality within the legal profession.
Public Interest Leadership Program
The Public Interest Leadership Program (PILP) promotes civic engagement and public service by advancing the leadership role of lawyers in service to their community, their profession and the Commonwealth.
Diversity & Inclusion
The Boston Bar is committed to advancing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, and provides a number of educational, outreach, mentoring, and networking programs – from Summer Internship programs, to bar exam coaching, and partnerships with seven local affinity bar associations.
Policy Research & Innovation
The BBF supports policy related projects, programs or initiatives that focus on promoting justice, expanding access to the legal system and advancing the law and profession. The BBF’s support has helped make possible influential reports such as “No Time to Wait: Recommendations for a Fair and Effective Criminal Justice System,” and “Investing in Justice: A Roadmap to Cost-Effective Funding of Civil Legal Aid in Massachusetts.”
Innovation in Service
The Boston Bar has invested in a new model to engage lawyers in service and to create innovative solutions for addressing systemic injustices that affect many people in our community. The initial pilot project, which was launched in 2018, is focused on the school-to-prison pipeline.
